Hello Hello!!!!
I'm sitting in an Internet cafe today! No A/C...but there's bangin' bollywood music!! It's our last day in Coimbatore, so we thought we would explore a little before we have to pack. Now we're onto part two of our adventure!
Update: nausea and vomiting have subsided. The "loose stools"...well, that's another story! ;) Let's just say I'm having less "uh oh" moments each day. phew!
Last night, Natalie and I rode on our first MOTORCYCLE/MOPED in the city! It was AMAZINGGGG! Two nursing instructors picked us up, and told us to hop on! (We were eating dinner at their house that night) Crazy experience! Buses and trucks were everywhere, and it was starting to drizzle. Colorful lights from the huge Indian national conference were lit up, and my hair was flying around like crazy! I wore this awesome amethyst churidar ( long shirt, ali-baba pants, and a matching scarf) with amazing beadwork Their outfits are amazing here. I can't believe how sloppy I feel when I wear "American" clothing now. Needless to say, I took a million photos and videos last night!
Wednesday classes were cancelled!!!!! It was the start of the Indian national conference (RIGHT next door to the PSG campus). There was a HUGE parade that evening. It felt like the rose parade...except everyone was waving to their favorite gods, instead of the rose court. I've never seen so many people in my LIFE. To get a better view, a few of us tried getting onto the school's bridge...only to be screamed at by a craaaazy rent-a-millitary-cop. I defnintely have that on film. After standing there pretending not to understand what was going on, another cop waved us up the steps....totally undermining Mr. Power trip. Epic. I guess that's where the press and all of the trustees were sitting, because everyone was really nicely dressed. What can I say...we're rockstars . ;). The press even harassed us several times for photos. FUN!!! (but no, we didn't make the cover of Tamil Nadu Times).
Today we went to some crazy yoga center. No we did not do yoga. Yes it was weird. It's interesting to see how hardcore "foreigners" are about meditation. There were several Caucasian women there...shaved heads and all. Sold. Out. Convinced that THEY can achieve and attain inner peace. I mean, everyone there was striving for the same thing....but the sineid o'connors just stood out to me. Refer to Micaleen's blog (micaleen.blogspot.com) for a more detailed description of the place. I have to start packing for tomorrow!!!!!!!!
Vanakkam!!!! (goodbye!)
