Tuesdays With Kathryn

I just realized that I tend to post new information on Tuesdays, so I thought the title was appropriate ;).

Well, the Indian director of the PSG School of Nursing came to visit us today. Unfortunately, I was unable to make the meeting due to the fact that I spent my entire Monday in the emergency room. (I had a final exam right after the scheduled meeting, and I figured that I needed to study a little bit more...since, ya know, I was high as a kite yesterday.)

The doctor was thinking I was presenting early stages of appendicitis, but it was still too early to tell. It takes appendixes 24-36 hours to EXPLODE, and I was only 6 hours into the journey. THANK GOD FOR OPIOID ANALGESICS! Let's see...what did I end up taking?
  1. 800 mg Tylenol
  2. 2 Vicodin
  3. Dilaudid IV
NONE of those meds worked. I totally thought I was going crazy. Dilaudid is a hardcore opioid, and when it's administered straight into your circulatory system...it's supposed to work UBER quickly. Turns out...the lovely nurse didn't insert my IV properly (aka- it wasn't even in a vein) and the bolus of drug just sat....under my skin...for over an hour....SLOWLY absorbing into my body. My abdomen was hurting so badly, that I didn't even notice my extremely red, swollen, bruised arm. I'll be sure to be more scrutinous next time....

Another thing to remember...when you call 9-1-1 on yourslef, allow the lovely firemen to carry you out...don't walk yourself to the ambulance.

In conclusion, the Dilaudid kicked in, God totally healed me, and I have a clean bill of health once again! YAY!

"when is it gonna kick in?!!!"

ok...now i'm feelin guuuuuuud ;)
