Cuz I'm leaving on a jet plane!

6 (well, 5) DAYS LEFT UNTIL I LEAVE!!!!!!!! shoot!!!

SO much has been going on, and I don't think I can remember all of the CRAZY things that have seemed to surface..ticket drama, mostly. But, God is good, and He's handling ALL of it! :)

I wanted to do a mini product review/pictorial of the various items I (aka PARENTS) purchased- like:

  1. REI 30L pack-pack (as my brother use to say)
  2. Teva sandals (mens)....cuz I'm burly like that ;)
  3. Exofficio BuzzOff shirts, kacki pants, and sweater no mozzies fo meeeee!
  4. SteriPen- a small, travel friendly device that steralizes EVERYTHING in the water, so you don't get the lovely DIARRHEA/VOMITING (aka Dheli Belly)
  5. Mosquito net tent. Like a camping tent for one, but entirely made out of mosquito netting!
Those are the BIG purchase items amongst the accessories.

Everything else consisted of: WetWipes, Hand Sanitizer. and LOTS of Kleenex for toilet paper, my SWORD OF THE SPIRIT, snacks, duct tape, first aid kit, and a lot a MacGyver-esque items.

Perhaps I'll do a post India review instead. I can't believe it has taken me 3 days to complete this blog (It's now MONDAY). I still need to get my music on my ipod! PRIORITIES!!!!!!!!!!!

One thing I AM proud of... I can set up and completely break down my mosquito net tent in under 7 minutes....at midnight...when I was super exhausted. I figured I should time it when I was most prone to exhaustion and frustration....since I'm sure that I'll feel the same way overseas! And with practice, I'll be able to qualify for some Olympic tent event....

Ok....i KNOW Julie (WOOP WOOOOP) is chomping at the bit for this blog to be posted. So that's what I'll do. Maybe I'll come back and edit, and add pictures....but who am I kidding?

I start my anti-malariaials (aka my BFF's for the trip) todayyyyy!

Oh! Here's a sneak peek of one of the actual trains we will be sleeping in! i LOVE the internet, and the fact that people post their photo journeys on there!

Tuesdays With Kathryn

I just realized that I tend to post new information on Tuesdays, so I thought the title was appropriate ;).

Well, the Indian director of the PSG School of Nursing came to visit us today. Unfortunately, I was unable to make the meeting due to the fact that I spent my entire Monday in the emergency room. (I had a final exam right after the scheduled meeting, and I figured that I needed to study a little bit more...since, ya know, I was high as a kite yesterday.)

The doctor was thinking I was presenting early stages of appendicitis, but it was still too early to tell. It takes appendixes 24-36 hours to EXPLODE, and I was only 6 hours into the journey. THANK GOD FOR OPIOID ANALGESICS! Let's see...what did I end up taking?
  1. 800 mg Tylenol
  2. 2 Vicodin
  3. Dilaudid IV
NONE of those meds worked. I totally thought I was going crazy. Dilaudid is a hardcore opioid, and when it's administered straight into your circulatory system...it's supposed to work UBER quickly. Turns out...the lovely nurse didn't insert my IV properly (aka- it wasn't even in a vein) and the bolus of drug just sat....under my skin...for over an hour....SLOWLY absorbing into my body. My abdomen was hurting so badly, that I didn't even notice my extremely red, swollen, bruised arm. I'll be sure to be more scrutinous next time....

Another thing to remember...when you call 9-1-1 on yourslef, allow the lovely firemen to carry you out...don't walk yourself to the ambulance.

In conclusion, the Dilaudid kicked in, God totally healed me, and I have a clean bill of health once again! YAY!

"when is it gonna kick in?!!!"

ok...now i'm feelin guuuuuuud ;)

Whatchu staring at?

Just thought I'd share this awesome picture with all ya'lls! My auntie Clarice took this when she was in New Dehli a few years ago. Click on the picture to get a better perspective. I LOVE the expression on the monkey's face.
